OBAM Challenge

At the end of 2007, Fortis had launched a campaign to promote their succesfull Fortis OBAM Fund in Germany (and The Netherlands). A part of this campaign included an investment game in which participants were challenged to beat a benchmark: the OBAM fund itself. Fortis decided to let WebsiteXpress host their game, using the myWallet game engine.
3000+ portfolios
For six months, the myWallet engine managed around 3300 portfolios, calculating performance on a daily basis while managing orders on a 24/7 basis.
The game generated 7 milion hits during this period and processed an average of 1600 orders a day. The figures speak for themselves as shown in the graphs below.
Results
Most participants enjoyed the game and even more the prices that Fortis rewarded! Only a handfull of players managed to outperform the OBAM benchmark which showed the difficulties of managing a large fund like OBAM.
